Machete Ban aims to reduce crime.

The Victorian Government has banned machetes. The aim is to reduce violent crimes and help keep communities safe. 


Anyone caught carrying the weapons could face fines of up to fines of up to 47 thousand dollars and possible prison time.


But locals in Melbourne’s north east remain concerned about crime. Owner of Eltham Motors, Catherine Bowman says, “I don’t see it as unnecessary, but as a member of the Eltham community, the recent decision to ban machetes does not make me feel any safer.
