The Myon Retail Group aims to close the gap in local retail services to prevent residents from traveling outside of Chelsea Heights for everyday shopping.

The Chelsea Heights community, located about 30 km southeast of Melbourne's Central Business District, is set to welcome a new shopping centre located on Wells and Springvale Road, with a fully leased precinct bringing Woolworths, food ranges, and retail and personal services to residents.

Myon Retail Group managing director James Batrouney was engaged by Woolworths' development company, Fabcot, to provide the retail leasing resources and strategy to fill the gap in the local market around the city of Kingston area.

“Convenience is obviously a big thing for everyone,” he said. “Currently, they do have to travel five to 10 minutes down the road with traffic, which turns into 20 minutes, 25 minutes quite easily,” he said.

Batrouney said Woolworths had conducted market research and analysis before selecting locations and identifying any additional retail services in Chelsea Heights. “They've recognised that there's a gap in the market here, and they want to be able to service the community,” he said.

The development of the centre has been fully leased, with a range of businesses intended to cater for different members, and also existing local staples including Dan Murphy and the Chelsea Heights Hotel. “We are looking to introduce a cafe, Sushi Hub, Baker's Delight," he said. "We've got a nail bar going in and we've got a pharmacy going in too."

Myon has received positive responses during the leasing process, with no major concerns raised by residents or businesses. “It seems to be a very welcomed project at Chelsea Heights,” he said. “It's been very positive in the market. I think the community is going to be the beneficiary of all the hard work that we've put in.”
