The Art of Suffering: backyard ultras is an audio documentary by Yehezkiel Rinaldi that explores the world of ultrarunning through the Melbourne Frontyard Ultra. What begins as an investigation into a sport often associated with extreme physical endurance becomes a deeper examination of community, resilience and self-belief. Drawing on interviews with runners competing in one of Australia's most demanding endurance events, Rinaldi challenges common perceptions of ultrarunners as superhuman or irrational, revealing instead ordinary people who have found meaning, purpose and confidence through pushing their limits. Through firsthand observation and personal reflection, the documentary offers an intimate portrait of the people behind the miles and the motivations that keep them moving forward.

This documentary was produced for a Masters unit in Advanced Audio and Broadcasting Practice.
